Situation
Active Environmental Services, Inc. was contracted to conduct a Site Characterization and to prepare a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for a former radio station in Indianapolis, Indiana. A leak from a heating oil tank contaminated the property. The Site Characterization revealed petroleum residuals in soil and ground water from the heating oil tank located on the site. The CAP approved by the Indian a Department of Environmental Management included Monitored Natural Attenuation. The project goal included receipt of "Covenant Not to Sue" from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
Corrective Action and Remediation Activities
Monitored Natural Attenuation was the remediation method used and approved by IDEM for the site. A "Covenant Not To Sue" was issued in August 2004.
