Situation
Active Environmental Services, Inc. was contracted to conduct a Site Characterization and to prepare a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for a former gasoline service station and active strip mall, located in Columbus, Indiana. The Site Characterization revealed petroleum residuals in soil and ground water in the vicinity of a release of petroleum from the underground storage tanks formerly located on the site. The CAP approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management included quarterly monitoring of the on and off-site monitoring wells and the operation of an Air Sparging and Soil Vapor Extraction remediation system.

Corrective Action and Remediation Activities
Quarterly sampling continued for the monitoring wells per the approved Corrective Action Plan.  A Request "No Further Action" from IDEM after four quarters of non-detect or below IDEM closure levels in the monitoring wells was granted.
