Situation
Active Environmental Services, Inc. was contracted to conduct a Site Characterization and to prepare a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for a Frankfort Bulk Terminal located in Frankfort, Indiana. The Site Characterization revealed petroleum residuals in soil and ground water in the vicinity of the above ground bulk storage tanks located on the site. The CAP approved by Indiana Department of Environmental Management included the installation of a ground water collection system, quarterly monitoring of the on and off-site monitoring wells, and discharging of the treated ground water into the sanitary sewer.
Corrective Action and Remediation Activities
Continue quarterly sampling for the sampling and gauging of the monitoring wells, with installation of a remediation system.
Continue efforts to reduce the sampling requirements at the site to move toward NFA at the site. Request No Further Action from IDEM after four quarters of non-detect or below IDEM closure levels in the monitoring wells. Continue to reduce O & M costs of the system.
