Situation
Active Environmental Services, Inc. was contracted to conduct a Site Characterization and to prepare a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for a former Bulk Facility in Danville, Indiana. The CAP approved by Indiana Department of Environmental Management included the installation of a ground water collection system, quarterly monitoring of the on site monitoring wells, and discharging of the treated ground water into the storm sewer. The Site Characterization revealed petroleum residuals in soil and ground water in the vicinity of the former above ground storage tanks formerly located on the site.
Corrective Action and Remediation Activities
Quarterly sampling continued for the monitoring wells following the approval of the Corrective Action Plan designed to utilize Natural Monitored Attenuation. A request for "No Further Action" from IDEM after four quarters of non-detect or below IDEM closure levels in the monitoring wells was granted.
